Symbols = h - hammer on p - pull off b - bend sl - slide to the next note indicated sl\ - slide down the neck unless a following note is indicated. x - mute the strings Main verse section (the bass line has been tabbed for the guitar) E[-0-0-0--0----------------------------] D[-0-0-0--0----------------------------] A[-0-0-0--0----------------------------] D[-0-0-0--0----------------------------] A[-0-0-0--0--5h6p5-sl-9h10p9-sl-6p5----] D[-0-0-0--0----------------------------] Repeat the above section for the duration of the verse. The following section precedes the main chorus: ("All of the while you were here....etc")w/distortion E[-----------------------------------] D[-----------------------------------] A[-----------------------------------] D[-10-8-7--10-8-7--10-8-7-8-7-8-7----] A[-8--6-5--8--6-5---8-6-5-6-5-6-5----] D[-----------------------------------] In addition to this section, there is an overdubbed part which plays the same chords but at a higher octave. It goes: E[-----------------------------------------] D[-----------------------------------------] A[-15-13-12-15-13-12-15-13-12-13-12-13-12--] D[-----------------------------------------] A[-15-13-12-15-13-12-15-13-12-13-12-13-12--] D[-----------------------------------------] Both of the above sections are played twice. The main chorus appears to have a whole host of guitars on it, but below it has been arranged for just the one. "Come on lady...." E[------------------------------------------------------------------] D[-------0----------------------------------------------------------] A[-x-x-x-----------------------------------------0-1-3-1-0-1-1------] D[-x-x-x-7--0-1-3-1-0-1---8-7--0-1-3-1-0-1---7-8---------------8-7--] A[-x-x-x-5--------------3-6-5--------------3-5-6---------------6-5--] D[-x-x-x------------------------------------------------------------] E[------------------] D[---------------0--] A[------------------] D[-0-1-3-1-0-1---7--] A[-------------3-5--] D[------------------] Play the above part twice. Incedentally, the chorus tab above is only a guide. For a nicer sound play some of the other strings open at the same time. The song then progresses back to the main verse part (see above). Following the second verse ("And in the twilight...etc") and a repeat of both the choruse and `pre-chorus', the song then moves into a more up-tempo bridge section with loads of distortion. E[---------------------------------------] D[-0-2-4-4---0-2-5-4---0-2-4-4--0-2-0----] A[-0----------------------------------3--] D[-0-2-4-4---0-2-5-4---0-2-4-4--0-2-0----] A[-0----------------------------------3--] D[---------------------------------------] That part is played twice and is followed by an ascending chord progression and several mini solos. E[--------------------------------5-6-8-6-5h6p5---5-6-5h6p5---5-----] D[-0-2-4-5-4-5-7-5-7-8-7-5-7-1-0----------------5-----------5-------] A[-----------------------------0------------------------------------] D[-0-2-4-5-4-5-7-5-7-8-7-5-7-1-0------------------------------------] A[-----------------------------0------------------------------------] D[------------------------------------------------------------------] E[-------------------------8b10-8-6---6-8-6h8------] D[-5-4-5-7-5-7-8-7-5-7-1-0----------7---------5-7--] A[-----------------------0-------------------------] D[-5-4-5-7-5-7-8-7-5-7-1-0-------------------------] A[-----------------------0-------------------------] D[-------------------------------------------------] E[------------------------------------------------------------------] D[-5-4-5-7-5-7-8-7-5-7-1-0------4-5-4h5p4---------------------------] A[-----------------------0--5-6-----------6-5-6-8-6h8p6-3-5---------] D[-5-4-5-7-5-7-8-7-5-7-1-0------------------------------------------] A[-----------------------0------------------------------------------] D[------------------------------------------------------------------] E[------------------------------------------] D[--5-4-5-7-5-7-8-7-8-10-8-10sl12-12-sl\----] A[---------------------------------------0--] D[--5-4-5-7-5-7-8-7-8-10-8-10sl12-12-sl\-0--] A[---------------------------------------0--] D[---------------------------------------0--] Following this section the verse part is repeated again, but this time Jeff plays a solo over the top using a slide and a wah wah pedal (possibly a harmoniser as well). The tab below is really for playing the solo without a slide, as I'm not very good at using them! The first has no guitars in it and the second is the same as the tab above indicates. The outro part is again quite an aggressive chord progression and it goes like . . . . play twice----------] E[-------------------][---------------------------------------------] D[-3-5-3-0---3-5-8-7-][-3-5-3-0-3-5-0-1-0-0-1-0-3-5-0-3-5-3-0---1---] A[-------0-----------][-----------------------------------------0---] D[-3-5-3-0---3-5-8-7-][-3-5-3-0-3-5-0-1-0-0-1-0-3-5-0-3-5-3-0---1---] A[-------0-----------][-----------------------------------------0---] D[-------------------][-----------------------------------------0---]
This is Hands Down, my Favorite Tea Party Song Ever, still almost four years after I first herd it, the song still sends waves of impulses through my body.
