Not that I didn't like the second movie of the series, but I found it hard to adjust to the new characters, and the new motives to kill. Since, I have come to like the latter part of the series more so than the first. Maybe Not?
This film sees Pamela Springsteen grasp her role as Angela Johnson/Baker, whatever we choose to call her. Oh yeah, there won't be anymore confusion over the gender of Angela, as she has had a sex change using the governments money. This has not stiffled her any in the rampage that becomes the demise of Camp Rolling Hills.
The first 5 minutes provides all the information to bring any movie goer up to speed. There isn't any previous knowledge of Sleepaway Camp 1 needed. This I suppose could be a factor that could shine some Sleepaway Fans away from the movie. There is a 5 year gap inbetween the first and second movie. It is targeted at a different audience. Also, times have changed there has been hundreds of other bad horror movies made, there are almost a million Friday the 13th movies made, four Nightmare on Elm Streets, four Halloween films and last but not least, it is 1988.
Now on to the matter of killing someone at Camp Rolling Hills. Angela wastes no time, killing someone in the first five minutes of the movie (for having a dirty mouth). I forgot to mention that Angela is now a Camp Councilor. BAD MOVE UNCLE JOHN, YOU AREN"T LIKE MEL THE PHSYCO OWNER, OR HERMAN THE PERVERTED OWNER, BUT YOU HAVE TO BE THE STUPIDEST GUY IN THE WORLD TO HIRE A MURDERER. With that out of my system, yet's move to "my opinion.
This movie is horrible, but that is what makes it so good, you think that Scream was the first movie to make fun of itself. Think again, on the cover of Sleepaway Camp 2 it has a classification of HORROR/COMEDY. With special note to the other Killers borrowed from other successful horror series "LeatherFace", "Jason", "Freddy". In a metaphorical sense, Angela is killing all of them, proving that she is the best. But that is just my opinion.
Now to Judge this movie in all fairness, we have to
throw out all other opinons on the first movie. If I were
to do that, then I would have to say:
