If a thief were to steal all the production money for the 1983 slasher film "Sleepaway Camp", he would be better off scuaring the sides of the highway for assorted refundables. I personaly belive that the acting in this movie was quite good "under the circumstances". The movie line up boosts only one star that comes to mind that is the Camp owner Mel (Mike Kellin). Appearently, he died of Cancer shortly after filming for Sleepaway Camp was complete. Non the less, film stars aren't what makes this movie great. I suppose even the movie doesn't make the movie great.

Mike Kellin Gets Killed

To justifly my reasoning, I must first explain my chaos. I am a sucker for a movie that has horrible acting, and a budget so cheap that I could match it after a small loan. I belive this is why I enjoy most of the 1980's slasher films (horror). The cheapness adds to the plot, it is not mared by a single superstar, or by million dollar Computer FX.

Cheap Enough?

Perhaps the greatest aspect of this movie is the fact that we don't know who, or what the killer is. Most who have seen the movie criticize it harsh on the fact that it is a cookie cutter horror flick of its time (A LA FRIDAY THE 13TH). This fact only enlightens the plot. For the whole movie I thought that the Father was the killer, to seek revenge on the Concillors of the camp that killed his son(Peter). And to put to rest all of the campers who make fun of his daughter (Angela). Only til' the very last minute of the movie are we let in on a little (very little LOL) secret. I cannot give away this, as it would completely ruin the whole movie.

While watching the movie watch these scenes carefully
